Analysis of uveitis rates across all etanercept ankylosing spondylitis clinical trials
Posted on: 6/15/09
Uveitis is a common complication in ankylosing spondylitis.
A study in the Annals Of Rheumatic Diseases looks at the rates of uveitis on patients taking entanercept (Enbrel). The researches found that the rates of uveitis are lower in people taking the drug versus those who were taking a placebo in the study.
The authors conclude, "In subjects with AS, rates of uveitis events with etanercept were lower than with placebo in placebo-controlled trials and similar to sulfasalazine in an active-comparator trial."
