The Doctor of Love Marathon

My name is Corey James. I, along with a few of my friends, want to organize a fund- raiser for the Spondylitis Association of America.

Last year, one of our friends, Adrian Mitchell Masters died on April 3, 2019 due to complications after surgery that he had for ankylosing spondylitis.  Adrian was  37 years old and from St. Louis. He enjoyed wrestling, video games and karaoke.

We held a video game-centric fundraising event online to raise money for his funeral costs and to help cover whatever expenses his family needed at the time. Our gaming community managed to raise over $1,000 in one weekend last year in support of Adrian and his family. We would like to hold a similar event again this year and would like to raise money for SAA in his honor.

This event – which we have named The Doctor of Love Marathon, is inspired by Adrian’s gaming handle “Dr_Degenerator” and will be broadcast online by the gaming community on  Twitch.tv  and will  be centered around speedrunning. “Speedrunning” is the completion of a game, or part of a game, as fast as possible. Speedrunning is a showcase of both deep knowledge and practiced skill within gaming. It is quite popular in the gaming community, especially on Twitch.
