Encino, Calif. – SAA welcomes Dr. Erin Arnold, MD, to its Governing Board of Directors. As recognized leaders across various areas of expertise, SAA’s Board members are instrumental in helping the organization fulfill its mission to be a leader in the quest to cure ankylosing spondylitis and related diseases, and to empower those affected to live their lives to the fullest.
“SAA is a strong community with an unwavering commitment to providing resources and support for people living with spondyloarthritis,” said Dr. Arnold. “It’s an honor and a tremendous opportunity to serve on its Board to continue elevating those efforts,” she added.
Dr. Arnold is currently a partner at Orthopaedics and Rheumatology of the North Shore, where she has designed her practice around the principles of chronic disease management. As a healthcare professional, she endeavors to provide innovative care to patients with arthritis in an optimistic, professional, and compassionate setting. Her style of patient care emphasizes a dynamic and engaged approach to achieve remission of disease by incorporating multiple modalities such as state-of-the-art lab measurements, innovative imaging modalities, and biologic therapy. Among her many accomplishments, she has also developed a unique ultrasound exam accredited by the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine (AIUM) to diagnose inflammatory and crystal-induced arthritis and to follow the patient’s response to therapy.
Dr. Arnold earned her medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and completed her residency training at the University of Chicago. She also completed a Rheumatology fellowship at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA), where she was the first American Rheumatologist trained in Diagnostic and Interventional Musculoskeletal Ultrasound.
“We look forward to Dr. Arnold joining our Governing Board of Directors,” said SAA’s CEO, Cassie Shafer. “Our Board members represent a broad diversity of our membership, and they are known for their knowledge and expertise. But more importantly, they share our vision and passion to deliver better health outcomes for members of the SpA community,” Shafer added.
