Encino, Calif. – The Spondylitis Association of America (SAA), the leading national nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering individuals living with spondyloarthritis and its related diseases, is thrilled to announce the release of a unique resource, Healthy Living with AxSpA: Cooking with Chef Kevin Gillespie. This cooking demonstration video, made possible through the generous support of UCB, is not just about cooking but also educates and inspires individuals living with ankylosing spondylitis (AS) to embrace an anti-inflammatory diet for improved health outcomes.
Ankylosing spondylitis is a chronic inflammatory condition that affects the spine and sacroiliac joints, causing pain, stiffness, and reduced mobility in some individuals. While there is no cure for AS, adopting an anti-inflammatory diet has been shown to help manage symptoms and enhance the overall quality of health.
The newly released Healthy Living with AxSpA video features Chef Gillespie, a Top Chef fan favorite and Atlanta-area restaurateur, along with insights from Dr. Hillary Norton, a highly respected rheumatologist, and Dana Marton, an SAA Support Group Leader and AS patient. Their combined expertise and personal experiences provide a comprehensive and relatable visual guide of the benefits of an anti-inflammatory diet, especially for joints and mobility, for individuals living with ankylosing spondylitis.
“SAA extends its sincerest gratitude to UCB for its generous support in sponsoring this project,” stated SAA CEO Cassie Shafer. “Their support has been instrumental in bringing this valuable resource to the AS community,” she added.
The Healthy Living with AxSpA cooking demonstration video is now ready for viewers to explore on SAA’s website. For more information about SAA and its resources for individuals living with spondyloarthritis, please visit us at www.spondylitis.org.
